About Me:

At the Michigan State University Community Music School-Detroit you can find me teaching early childhood music classes, a beginner ukulele class, and an early childhood piano class. I also teach early childhood music classes to infants, toddlers, and young children throughout the metro-Detroit area at various childcare and community centers.

Throughout the suburbs beyond Detroit, I teach private and small group trumpet lessons to students at beginner through intermediate levels, as well as beginner piano lessons for young children.

Before working at the MSU Community Music School, I was an elementary music teacher for 7 years. I was the elementary music teacher at Auburn Elementary in the Avondale School District and before that I taught K-8 music at Regent Park Scholars Charter Academy in Detroit.

I first fell in love with making music when I began playing the trumpet in 5th grade. Trumpet-playing helped me meet some of my closest friends, favorite teachers, and best mentors. It also helped me go to college at Michigan State University, where I received my undergraduate degree in music education.

While I was at MSU I played in the Spartan Marching Band, Symphony Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra II, and a brass quintet. I also learned that there are so many ways I can make music without a trumpet.

Music in Haiti

For 5 summers, I had the opportunity to teach and make music with very dedicated and talented musicians in Haiti. Here's a video of me playing the trumpet with some of them.

I play in a brass band!

I play the tenor horn with the Five Lakes Silver Band. Stay up-to-date and support the band below. Can you find me in this video we recorded during quarantine?
